Alison Preuss is the founder of Scottish Home Education Forums, an information portal and networking community for home educators. She explains that many home educators have already been victim to state officials over stepping the mark and fears the Named Person plans will intensify this intrusion into family life.
Commenting on Named Person pilot schemes which have been operating in certain parts of Scotland, she said, as home educators “we were really first under the steam roller”.
“Parents have been really concerned about what is being said about them and what is being shared about them without consent.
She added: “The Government are saying they know what’s best for every child when in reality its parents who know what’s best for their own children. And state dictated outcomes are not necessarily the ones which families agree with.”
"I oppose the Scottish Government's plan to assign a 'Named Person' to every child in Scotland because it undermines families and diverts resources from children who need them."
