Should teachers spend all day reading your kids’ medical reports?

NHS Forth Valley says every headteacher is to be the Named Person for every child in their school.

It says these heads will be sent copies of medical reports, medical appointments, missed appointments, and other doctors’ letters.

For every child in their school.

That’s a lot of paperwork.

In today’s Times the outgoing President of the Educational Institute of Scotland (EIS) demanded that the Scottish Goverment deliver on promises to cut red tape and lighten unnecessary workload.

In response, a Scottish Government spokesman said: “We are working with EIS and other partners to tackle unnecessary paperwork to free teachers to concentrate on what they do best, the delivery of teaching and learning of Scotland’s young people.”

Clearly the left hand doesn’t know what the right hand is doing.
